✍️ Essays: Stanford’s Soul-Searching Signature
1. What matters most to you, and why?
650 words max
This is where your true story unfolds. It’s not about achievements. It’s about the “why” behind everything you’ve done.
2. Why Stanford for you?
350 words max
Link your career aspirations to specific Stanford resources — think Startup Garage, Arbuckle Leadership Fellows, or the GSB network.
+ Optional Short Answer
Up to 3 stories, 200 words each, about moments of impact.
🧠 Your essays should feel like they could only have been written by you.
💼 Letters of Recommendation
Two LORs required:
One from your current direct supervisor
One from a recent professional or community supervisor
Your recommenders will answer:
How do you compare to peers?
